Probiotic yogourt
I have been using your yogurt starter for many years and find it to be an excellent product. Recently my naturopath recommended that I use bifidus strain yogurt do to a digestive issue I have called sibo and I have begun using this probiotic version because it contains that strain and find it to be excellent.

Box needs to state specific Yogurt maker required
Instructions on your site state that a yogurt maker MUST be used fir this specific type due to the different types if cultures. It does NOT state this on the box. I will now have to make a return journey to the store and hope that they will refund me or allow me to exchange for another starter.

Loved it!
I bought this at my local health food store and it was very easy to make. I was getting tired of paying for those little cups of yogurt at the grocery store and thought I'd give it a try. I made it without a yogurt maker ( I used my crockpot) and it turns out great every time. It's a little tangy but if you like a sweet fruit bottom yogurt a little jam does the trick. I've cut the cost by half by making my own and I know exactly what's in it! Thanks for such a good product!

I have the Yogurt starter with probiotics and love the results with my yogurt maker using milk. I now want to make yogurt with coconut milk. Do I proceed the same way as with milk, i.e. heat "milk", cool, add culture and incubate?
Thank you/Merci
Yogourmet replied:
Hello Chantal,
Thank you for your interest, glad to hear you love the results! About coconut milk, you can refer to this file: https://yogourmet.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/PLANT-BASED-BEVERAGES-NON-DAIRY-YOGURT-STARTER-CANADA-LSC.pdf there are information about the directions and some example of coconut milk you can try. We suggest using the following non-dairy drinks with the Yogourmet Non Dairy Culture. You will thus obtain excellent results. Have a good day

Can I use this probiotic starter with my cuisinart yogurt maker
Yogourmet replied:
Madam :
We thank you for your interest in the yogourmet products.
The Yogourmet CBA freeze-dried yogurt starter with probiotics is designed to work with the Yogourmet Multi electric yogurt maker and ONLY works with it unless you could manage to keep a constant incubation temperature of 37°C/98.6°F for 14-16 hours.
Best regards.
Fei, Richmond Hill, CA - 05/08/2016
What's the purpose of heating the milk to 180F before cooling down?
Yogourmet replied:
It is preferable to previously heat the milk up to 82°C/180°F to (re)pasteurized it and thus optimize the texture and the taste of the yogurt or kefir. The goal is to destroy unwanted bacteria that could prevent the yogurt or kefir from setting or that could grow beside the good bacteria contained in the Yogourmet starter.
Cecelia, Bellevue, United States - 25/07/2016
Does it have L Bulgaricus, S thermophiles, and L acidophilus in it?
Yogourmet replied:
Hi Cecelia, yes it does.
Wendy, Pointe aux Trembles, CA - 14/07/2016
Is this starter scd legal?
Yogourmet replied:
Hi Wendy, yes of course, our yogurt and kefir starters are perfectly legal for the SCD diet.
Darlene, Kamloops , CA - 09/07/2016
Could you please tell me why my yogurt went gritty?
I've made this before and it's the first time this happened.
Yogourmet replied:
Madam :
We thank you for your interest in the Yogourmet products and are sorry to hear that your last attempt to make yogurt has failed.
We invite you to answer the below mentioned questions to try to define the source of the problem. We are confident as for the reliability of our yogurt starter and want to find the source of the problem so it does not repeat itself again.
Kathy, Cherryville, CA - 22/05/2016
Why is the temperature lower (23-25C) for this starter?
Yogourmet replied:
Hi Kathy, this yogurt starter contains 2 additional probiotic strains; Lactobacillus casei and Bifidobacterium ("Bifidus") longum. Since these strains do not develop at the same temperature as the regular/original yogurt strains, you need to start the incubation at a lower temperature. However, at the end of the incubation period, which is 9 to 15 hours, the temperature will be at 44°C (if you're using our yogurt maker).
Ansell, - 12/05/2016
Hi, I bought this yogurt starter in Singapore and i brought it to my hometown in Indonesia. Is that fine during shipping without refrigerated?
Yogourmet replied:
Hi Ansell, for a short period of time there is no problem. We highly recommend to keep the different Yogourmet starters refrigerated or frozen in order to maintain a high bacterial concentration. When kept refrigerated, the different Yogourmet starters keep their freshness an additional year, passed the expiry date, and more when kept frozen. When kept at a temperature of 25°C/77°F beyond few weeks, the different Yogourmet starters could lose some of their bacterial concentration and then require a longer incubation period.
Darlene, Kamloops, CA - 06/05/2016
I have just started to use this starter and find it quite tart. The time suggested is between 9 a 15 hours. Would this cause it to be more tart than your original starter?
Yogourmet replied:
Hi again Darlene, in fact, the more longer is the incubation period the more acidulated/tart the yogurt will be. That's why the yogurt you make with our probiotic yogurt starter taste different from our original yogurt starter. If you like it less tart you can incubate 9 hours only, if you like it more tart incubate 15 hours.
Darlene, Kamloops, CA - 05/05/2016
What temperature do I cool the milk to before adding the culture?
Yogourmet replied:
Hi Darlene, with this starter you need to cool the milk to 23-25°C before adding the starter culture.

How can I buy probiotic yogurt starter at Hamilton city Ontario. Thanks
Yogourmet replied:
Hi Hong, we don't have stores near your location listed in our system, since we don't know all the stores our distributors are selling to, you could check in your local health food stores. You could also contact our distributor in Ontario, Lifemax Natural Foods, Pickering, ON, 1-877-LIFEMAX (543-3629), info@lifemax.ca. They will be able to tell you if there's a store near you that sells our probiotic yogurt starter.

Anny, Calgary, CA - 03/11/2015
How can I make more yogurt with remaining yogurt (made from probiotic yogurt starter)?
Yogourmet replied:
Hi Anny, you may start a new batch of yogurt from a part of a previous one made with the Yogourmet original yogurt starter only. This practice does not apply to the Yogourmet yogurt starter with probiotics. The way the probiotics grow in the initial batch does not allow them to be used as a starter since they would not grow properly in the next batches.
Henny, indonesia - 27/09/2015
How to keep probiotic yogurt starter? How long it can stay outside refrigerator or freezer?
Yogourmet replied:
We highly recommend to keep the different Yogourmet starters refrigerated or frozen in order to maintain a high bacterial concentration. When kept refrigerated, the different Yogourmet starters keep their freshness an additional year, passed the expiry date, and more when kept frozen.
Norma , Prince Albert, Sk., CA - 19/08/2015

Hi Elaine, there is no problem using our products in this situation, homemade yogurt is just like store bought-yogurt, it's even fresher so that means it's better for you and your family! :)
Yogurt from organic milk
Tried 3 times and it did not work at all.

Linda, Barrie, Canada - 04/03/2018

Can you use this product to make yogurt with nut beverages?
